This project aims to educate and empower individuals and professionals to understand when an individual with FASD has a disability and what their legal rights are.
There is much confusion about whether FASD is a disability. Individuals struggle to enforce their legal rights because they do not know whether they or those they care for have a disability. If disability is recognised, individuals and their families often do not know what their legal rights are or how to enforce them.
Professionals often misunderstand or fail to recognise when an individual with FASD has a disability and put themselves at risk of acting unlawfully, often leaving the individual with FASD vulnerable and disempowered.
As a discrimination lawyer who is passionate about equality, it is my mission to educate and empower individuals and professionals to understand the law on disability and promote positive change.
